So! Back to doing work on Evergrind City, preparing for the festival. As some of you might remember, I actually started working on this quite a while ago, but that was before you were supposed to be able to walk freely within the city.
Hence, it was time for me to return to the Festival version BG and add decorations all around the map!
Here's the mockup of the original version (though the worn down house in the top right corner is replaced by a regular house in the actual game):
And here is the mockup after the added decorations & a placeholder "night-time" effect added in Photoshop:
The biggest difference between this version and previous festival BG is that I've added a ton of candles around the map, mainly in the garden and on lilypads in the water. Also, I didn't bother adding placeholder lights for all the candles, as those also will be added later, once the BG is actually in the game.
I think that when all the NPCs & props that need animations have been added this will look pretty cool. Of course, I may go back and add more details to this later, as I tend to do with the other maps. If you have any suggestions for other ways to decorate the city, feel free to share 'em in a comment below :D

ReplyDelete- Sky Lanterns (ala Chinese / Tangled) that occasionally drift up, across and off the screen.
- Balloons that do the same.
- The moon reflected in the water behind the library. Maybe Bella and Edward at the tree behind the library. =D
- Firefly lights that glow and fade around the park and other wooded areas.
- A Rabby pinata to whack.
- A hidden fairy watching the celebrations from inside the teacup or on top of the tophat.
